How can chaplains address distinctive community considerations while providing specialized spiritual care for teenagers in private secondary schools?

While we often mean college or university chaplaincy when we discuss spiritual care in educational settings, one field of the profession does serve private institutions at the secondary level. Join us for a discussion on spiritual care for teenage individuals at the ninth through twelfth grade levels, especially in private institutions where community considerations are unique and require close attention from chaplains.

We’ll be joined by:

Dr. Celene Ibrahim is a distinguished scholar and thought leader in religious studies with a particular focus on Islamic intellectual history and applied ethics. Dr. Ibrahim’s notable achievements include receiving the Association of Middle East Women’s Studies Book Award in 2021 for her groundbreaking work “Women and Gender in the Qur’an.” Beyond her academic prowess, she has played a significant role in chaplaincy and religious leadership, serving as the Muslim Chaplain at Tufts University and currently holds a faculty position at Groton School.

Rev. Dr. Stephen Arbogast is the School Chaplain at St. Mark’s School of Texas. His remarkable career includes serving as a Priest in The Episcopal Church at notable locations such as Christ Church Georgetown and Grace Church of New York City. Currently contributing to the development of students at St. Mark’s School, Stephen’s expertise spans applied ethics, professional development, and the promotion of spiritual practices for the well-being of young individuals.
