Annamma Johns
Hospital Chaplain, Dallas
“Do not close your eyes before suffering, find ways to be with those who are suffering” – Buddha
Compassionate listening and a non-fixing attitude to be with suffering guides Buddhist chaplaincy. Mindfulness, my spiritual practice, led me to Chaplaincy.
My spiritual evolution started in India, watching my father meditate in the woods. I trained with Master Kamal Srinivas (yoga), Therapeutic Yoga at Duke University, Mindfulness Meditation Certification with Drs. Brach and Kornfield and Sati Center (Buddhist Chaplaincy).
A board member at Insight Meditation Community of Washington, I co-founded IMCW’s Asian Sangha, and teach with iBme and CorePowerYoga and a grief educator.
