This Campus Minister provides ministerial leadership and vision for the Department of Campus Ministry, serves as the primary animator of ecumenical Christian ministry on campus, and supervises the Campus Minister for multi-faith support (envisioned) to ensure the development of opportunities for faith formation, religious practice, and religious literacy development across the spectrum of religious traditions at the University of Dayton.
With a focus on Protestant Christian spirituality and faith expression, Ecumenical Ministry supports diverse Christian identities and practices within the campus community with an emphasis on ecumenical cooperation, faith formation, and connecting students to local denominational resources as appropriate. Leads weekly worship and creative faith formation programming such as retreats, scripture study, discipleship support, prayer/reflection events, and student leader development. Is attentive and responsive to cultural diversity among students in programming, worship, and pastoral care (especially with respect to the Black Church experience in programming and worship). Convenes and oversees a volunteer advisory council of local ordained Christian ministers who serve as pastoral/denominational resources for weekly worship.
It is envisioned that this associate director will supervise the full-time campus minister for multi-faith support and religious literacy in the future.
Collaborates to oversee the administration of faith-based student religious organizations, advises organizations as appropriate and fosters collaboration among them.
Provides pastoral care to students, faculty and staff. Reaches out to a diverse body of students through collaboration across the Campus Ministry team, fostering partnerships with Student Development, and other university faculty/staff. This minister is committed to animate the Catholic and Marianist vision of the University especially through ministry across Christian traditions. This is a 10.5 month full-time position with full benefits.
