The Chaplaincy Innovation Lab is pleased to welcome Zac Willette, MDiv, BCC as its inaugural Innovator in Residence. Zac is a board-certified chaplain who has accompanied thousands of people through both life and death experiences. He founded Allay Care in 2018 to enable brave conversations around death and dying so that everyone arrives at the end of their life with loved ones and healthcare teams who know what matters to them — and why. “We’re grateful that Zac shares the Lab’s mission to think anew about the work of spiritual care,” said Wendy Cadge, Lab Founder and Director. “I look forward to learning from and with Zac in this role.”

Zac previously served as head of Spiritual Care for Ascension, one of the nation’s leading nonprofit health systems. He earned a teaching degree at Vanderbilt University and a theology degree at Boston College. After stints in Antarctica, the UK, and Bolivia, he now lives and works in Minneapolis.

Welcome, Zac!
