Michelle Alvarez, MDiv, MEd
Staff Chaplain, Lakeland Regional Health
I was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to pastors/missionaries. I spent some of my childhood in Tennessee and my teenage years in the Philippines. I studied to become an English teacher and was happy singing in the choir. I said I would never be a minister nor a minister’s wife. But God had a different plan for my life. After years of restlessness and an existential crisis, through many tears and brokenness, I stumbled upon chaplaincy. Even though I hate hospitals, I have been working full time as a staff chaplain at a hospital. I have discovered that my gifts, talents, and abilities work well in a hospital setting.
