Josiah E. Willaims
Hospital & Hospice Chaplain, St. Croix Health
I’m a relatively new chaplain living in northwestern Wisconsin. I previously worked 10yrs as an Army Chaplain Assistant supporting the spiritual care of soldiers. I also worked in security industry to include hospitals at the beginning of the pandemic. I see a need for spiritual care in rural settings and have begun also working as a contracted hospice chaplain to support the needs in the region.
Because of moral injuries I suffered in the pandemic, informing families they could not visit for example in the security role, I am passionate about staff care and making space for our staff to process and heal from the traumatic experience those in health care often face.
I love the work of spiritual care because there is so much beauty in our sacred stories and in how we care for others and ourselves.
I have a lot to learn about caring for the souls of our neighbors and am honored to be held and supported by the Chaplains who have been doing this work before me. This is truly a sacred calling.
