“I work as a community-based palliative care chaplain in Bend, Oregon. I provide emotional, spiritual/life-stance, and existential support and guidance for people living with a serious illness, and for their caregivers and loved ones. I split my work week between oncology and cardiology clinic, and community visits. I am an IDT member of The Center ALS Clinic in Bend that serves eastern Oregon.
As a non-religious chaplain, I do my part to educate about spiritual care for non-spiritual people. And to advocate for a shift in chaplain training and board certification, to better meet the needs of our service populations and the chaplains we prepare for that service.
