Chaplaincy and Policing
How can chaplains contribute to community healing and support law enforcement officers in difficult situations?
We thank our sponsors for this webinar: the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC.org) and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Assistance Program (scleap.org)
Law enforcement chaplains occupy a unique space in spiritual care: even as they support the individuals serving in law enforcement departments and citizens who encounter law enforcement, they are also part persistent and often difficult conversations about discrimination and disparity in American society. Join the Lab and a panel of active and retired and former law enforcement chaplains for a lively and engaged discussion about what it means to be a law enforcement chaplain today and what role spiritual care providers have in communal and social healing. We will be joined by:
- Rebecca Brown, Clayton County (Georgia) Police
- Rev. Sharon Ellis Davis, Chicago Police Department (retired)
- Imam Khalid Latif, New York University
- Rev. Eric Skidmore, South Caroline Law Enforcement Assistance Program
