EMS Chaplaincy

What does it mean to provide spiritual care in an emergency services setting?
In this webinar, Katie Tunks Leach of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Technology Sydney will offer an overview of emergency medical services (EMS) chaplaincy. We’ll learn what the daily work of EMS chaplaincy looks like, what kind of training EMS chaplains have, what interventions they use, and how those interested in this area of spiritual care can take next steps toward serving in this space.

Katie Tunks Leach is a PhD candidate at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. Her recent article in Religion and Health, “The Role and Value of Chaplains in the Ambulance Service: Paramedic Perspectives” is the basis for this webinar, as is her dissertation research. She is an experienced emergency services chaplain and was profiled on the Lab’s THIS Is What a Chaplain Looks Like feature.
