Mapping Spiritual Innovation amid Demographic Shifts

This Chaplaincy Innovation Lab webinar presents recent research mapping spiritual innovation efforts across the United States. Through semi-structured interviews with leaders of hundreds of spiritually innovative groups, the project examined how religious communities are reimagining their role amid the rise of so-called religious “nones”* and declining attendance at traditional religious services. The webinar identifies five genealogies of spiritual innovation and addresses critical challenges faced by innovators. The project provides essential insights into the transformation of contemporary American spirituality and the emerging spiritual infrastructure facilitating the future.
