Daring Compassion for the Moment: Principles of Movement Chaplaincy
If you are interested in serving as spiritual, emotional and healing support to people before, during or after protests, this training is for you. Geared toward clergy, lay leaders and faith/spiritually based organizers or activists who want to serve movements for justice with accompaniment, care, listening, healing spaces and more.
Faith Matters Network is working to equip and support those serving in the emerging vocational role of movement chaplain— those who offer accompaniment — spiritual, emotional, relational and practical care — to those in social change events, organizations, and movements.
We recommended that participants:
Have education/training and a consistent practice in a religious/spiritual tradition
Have some experience engaging social movements
Are connected to local movements or a faith/spiritual community with a justice focus or ministry
This training is open to people of all spiritual, religious traditions, genders, sexualities, races and ethnicities and this openness to all is our baseline expectation for all participants. You can learn more about your facilitators Micky, Hilary and Margaret at FaithMattersNetwork.org.
Things to Note: Seats are limited. A waitlist will be available once capacity is reached. This is not a full movement chaplaincy training. This is a rapid response offering in this moment for how to offer healing and resilience in the midst of continuous trauma and heightened awareness of that.
Registration will close at 6:00 pm EST on Monday, June 22nd.
Registrants will receive Zoom login information by 9am on Tuesday, June 23rd.
Webinar will be recorded and shared with all registered participants.
