Dr. Asha Shipman
Director of Hindu Life, Yale University
Dr. Asha Shipman serves as the Director of Hindu Life and Hindu Chaplain for Yale University. Her Hindu Life Program at Yale offers the Yale Hindu community a safe space for worship, interpersonal connection, and opportunities to consider the relevance of Hindu philosophies to contemporary life. A pioneer in the field, she is a frequently sought out as a speaker, writer, and consultant on Hindu chaplaincy in Higher Education and she is a contributor to the first book on Hindu chaplaincy in the US, entitled Hindu Approaches to Spiritual Care, and the author of “Hindu Chaplaincy in US Higher Education,” published by Journal of Interreligious Studies. Dr. Shipman serves on several professional boards and is the founding Chair of the North American Hindu Chaplains Association. She enjoys – collectively and separately – tea, cats, being outdoors and nurturing growth.
