Rev. Linda McWhorter, MDiv, MPH
Staff Chaplain, Hospice Austin Christopher House
Working most of my professional life in social services, my office was a “sacred space” where clients and co-workers would come to share their struggles, concerns, and joys. I was doing ministry! This led me to enter an interfaith seminary and to chaplaincy, working in hospice while still a seminarian. I tried hospital chaplaincy (during and after CPE training), and congregational ministry, however, it is hospice chaplaincy which has been my passion. It is an honor to be a “last responder” in an inpatient hospice facility; to be present with loved ones and the dying person in their last moments.
