Renee Albracht
Hospital Chaplain, Methodist Hospital System, San Antonio
My full name is Troy Renee Albracht, but I go by Renee. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, but lived in Nashville, TN for 15 years. In 2010 I got a divorce after almost 13 years of marriage, and in 2012, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After being in remission for one year, I decided to move back home to Texas. I answered the call to ministry in 2016 and got ordained as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene in April 2021.
I was born and raised a Catholic, married a Baptist, and joined the Nazarene Church in 2005. I tell people that Catholicism gave me my foundation, the Baptists taught me that Jesus is my friend, and the Nazarenes taught me how to live my faith.
I currently serve as an associate pastor at my church and work as a PRN hospital chaplain with the Methodist Hospital System in San Antonio, Texas. Upon graduation from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in May 2023, I hope to find a full-time job in a cancer hospital. In addition, I plan to seek a doctorate in social anthropology and continue studying COVID-PTSD in the healthcare setting.
I have two fur babies – Bailey is my 15-year-old rat terrier and Ray Ray (Rahima) is my three-year-old American bobtail.
My hobbies include reading fiction, writing fiction, movies, my pets, nature, and Bon Jovi!
