Zac Willette

Innovator in Residence

Zac Willette, MDiv BCC is a board-certified chaplain who has accompanied thousands of people through both life and death experiences. With a background in education, international work and experience serving people in two of Chicago’s most intense ER and Trauma Centers, Zac understands the power of resilience and brings a perspective of inclusion and diversity to his work. Zac founded Allay Care in 2018 to enable brave conversations around death and dying so that everyone arrives at the end of their life with loved ones and healthcare teams who know what matters to them — and why. Immediately before founding Allay Care, Zac served as head of Spiritual Care for Ascension, one of the nation’s leading nonprofit health systems. He earned a teaching degree at Vanderbilt University and a theology degree at Boston College. After stints in Antarctica, the UK, and Bolivia, he now lives and works in Minneapolis. When not at work Zac lifts weights, appreciates fonts, and patronizes mom & pop restaurants.
