Spiritual AIM
Over the past two decades, Spiritual AIM has grown from an emerging framework for spiritual assessment into one of the most widely used models in professional chaplaincy. This interactive webinar will explore the history and foundational concepts of Spiritual AIM, examine how it is being applied today in a variety of spiritual care settings around the world, and invite participants into a conversation about its future. Through collaborative exploration, attendees will help identify opportunities for innovation, adaptation, and broader impact. Whether you are new to Spiritual AIM or have used it for years, this session offers a chance to celebrate its legacy, assess its current relevance, and contribute to shaping the next generation of spiritually integrated care.

Category D: Spiritual Care Interventions – Outcome 3: Use of Spiritual Assessments and Care Plans – Level IA – IA.15 – Demonstrate an understanding of the difference between spiritual assessments and spiritual histories/screens.
Category D: Spiritual Care Interventions – Outcome 2: Use of Cultural, Religious and Spiritual Resources – Level IA – IA.14 – Demonstrate an understanding and initiate the use of spiritual resources that address spiritual wellbeing.

Allison Kestenbaum is the Manager of Spiritual Care and Clinical Pastoral Education at UC San Diego Health. She is an Associate Clinical Professor in Health Sciences in the Department of Medicine (Geriatrics and Palliative Care) and Affiliate Faculty at the Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion at UCSD. She is a Board Certified Chaplain (NAJC and APC) with Advanced Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care. She is also a Certified Pastoral Educator (ACPE). Allison conducts research about palliative and spiritual care and education and is founding faculty at SpiritualAIM.org. She has worked at UC San Francisco Health, Jewish Theological Seminary and UJA-Federation of New York. She was the first chaplain to receive a Sojourns Scholar Award for palliative care leaders.
