Human Trafficking course for chaplains

The International Labour Organization estimates that 20 million individuals are victims of trafficking globally. Yet these persons, and their suffering, are almost entirely invisible. It may be true that “the eye does not see what the mind does not recognize.” As a chaplain, you are uniquely positioned to be a safe person that can make a difference in a trafficking victim’s life, but if you have limited awareness of the indicators and dynamics of the trafficking world, that opportunity may be missed.

This course focuses on the indicators of human trafficking, utilizing pastoral skills in interacting with a person who has been trafficked and an understanding of the impact of trauma on a person’s behavior. While chaplains in all settings will benefit from this webinar, an estimated 2/3 of trafficking victims seek care in a medical facility, meaning healthcare chaplains may have a vital role to play in this work.
